Glasses with polarized lenses have a specific filter called the Polarizer. This filter allows the passage of linear light but it shields all the rays coming from the other directions. Polarized lenses screen mirror images that can obscure you when the sun’s rays meet surfaces such as asphalt, snow, fog and horizontal metal surfaces.

The Principle of Polarization

In sunglasses, on the other hand, polarized lenses also protect the eye from UV radiation, attenuating more the reflection of traditional sunglasses.
