Polarized lenses

Polarized lenses are made for those who are disturbed by reflections. If you happen to be driving your car, the reflections on the road surface can cause damage and fatigue to your eyes.

Glasses with polarized lenses have a specific filter called the Polarizer. This filter allows the passage of linear light but it shields all the rays coming from the other directions. Thanks to this technology, the wearer of the glasses enjoys a clearer and more defined vision, increasing the contrast.

Polarized lenses screen mirror images that can obscure you when the sun’s rays meet surfaces such as asphalt, snow, fog and horizontal metal surfaces.

The Principle of Polarization

It should be explained to understand the benefits of this lens that natural light is not polarized, therefore the electromagnetic waves that constitute it oscillate in every direction of the three-dimensional space in which they are located.

The principle of polarization is therefore the ability to change the orientation of the electromagnetic waves that make up the light.

Why change the orientation of the waves that make up the light?

It has to be modified because not all the light that comes to our eyes is useful, but most of it is as harmful as in the image on the side. The reflections of the sun can represent a danger, especially when you are at the wheel: hitting a flat surface, the rays branch off with a real blinding effect.

The change of axis and the strong brightness of light cause a strong glare which is the main cause of:

  •     Reduction of the Visibility,
  •     Distortion of Colors
  •     Eye fatigue and irritation.

Polarized glasses exploit the phenomenon of re-directing light, through a polarizer that is an optical filter inserted inside the lenses. The polarizing treatment is performed in both eyeglasses and sunglasses. The filter inside the glasses eliminate glare and modulate the brightness. In sunglasses, on the other hand, polarized lenses also protect the eye from UV radiation, attenuating more the reflection of traditional sunglasses.

Polarized lenses are present in various colors:

  •     Brown
  •     Grey
  •     Pink
  •     Green
